Altai Himalaya: A Travel Diary
| Nicholas Roerich
| "Nicholas Roerich's classic 1929 mystic travel book is back in print in this deluxe new edition. Roerich was a Russian-American Renaissance Man, living in the mid-1900s. A popular and accomplished artist, he was noted for the lush use of light and color in his paintings. Also a prolific writer, he penned several books concerning Tibet, India, Central Asia, China, Mongolia and Siberia. It was probably from Roerich's books that the concept of a mystical Shangri-la became well known. There are two museums dedicated to Roerich, one in New York and one in Moscow." Roerich was also a famous archaeologist and explorer. Altai Himalaya chronicles his expedition through Sinkiang, Altai-Mongolia and Tibet from 1924 to 1928. Twelve chapters describe incredible adventure and intrigue as his team covers ground still almost unknown today! Roerich's "Travel Diary" style also incorporates various mysteries and mystical arts of Central Asia, including such arcane topics as the hidden cities of Shambala and Agartha.
