| While driving a cab around rainy Spokane, Washington, Vietnam vet Scott Moody is still working on getting his life back together. He's put the time he spent in a mental institution behind him, as well as his stint as a private detective (or so he thinks), and moved to Mill City, a Spokane suburb. He still battles his personal demons, but he's now dating the beautiful, wealthy Xanthia Welch, who offers him a chance at a normal life. When Moody witnesses the murder of Xanthia's father, he's intent on solving the crime for Xanthia's sake and his own -- for he's the prime suspect.
