Uncle Arnel and the Swamp Witch
Alison Hoffman Lane
Marie and Uncle Arnel believe in Acadian tradition, and on their usual visit to the swamplands, they stumble upon the fabled Swamp Witch. No one had actually seen the Swamp Witch before, but with one glance from her, you'd really be a poor little thing. Legend states that her penetrating stare can shrink your whole family to twelve inches tall. And that's just what happened! Now Marie and Uncle Arnel are far from home and too small to cross the marsh to their pirogue, but that doesn't stop them from enjoying the adventure ahead or their new stature. No one can shrink true Cajun spirit, for there will always be gumbo on the stove when you come home. The togetherness of friends and family is a large part of Cajun culture, and with big smiles, warm hearts, and good times, they never give up. ABOUT THE AUTHOR In true Acadian spirit, Alison Hoffman Lane was inspired by her children to create a series of stories about Uncle Arnel and his family.
